Excited I Passed the Test from Running for my Health

Happy holidays! Even though it’s the holidays, I’m still running for my health. I keep going even though it’s tough to stay active with so much going on. My doctor pointed out a few positive things during my latest visit that running helped contribute to. I can’t promise the same results, but hope sharing can help you ask the right questions.

Observations from Running for my Health

I spent some time with my health professional this past week. There is some history of heart troubles in my family and without running, it may be a situation that could be worse. I had some tests run to check my heart health. My tests came back negative and there is no further treatment required. The specialist said running could be seen in my test results. Running 15-20 miles per week has resulted in great benefits!

My specialist pointed out a few things during my tests:

  • Low Resting Heart Rate – I have a low resting heart rate as a result of running. It’s in the 50s during normal resting and can get into the 40s overnight. This is much lower than the 60s before I started running.
  • Faster Recovery – My heart is used to recovering from a run, so I do notice faster recovery time. After I stop running, I’m ready to stretch and shower. My heart rate recovers fast enough that I don’t even notice it.
  • Managing other Symptoms – I have higher cholesterol and running has kept things in check well enough that I don’t need to take further action. Who knows where things would be without running?

Not a Doctor, but I Hope your Results Don’t Vary

It’s the holidays and a great time to be thankful. I’m thankful for the health benefits I’ve realized from frequent running. Even though the holidays are here, don’t forget to keep up your running. I’m not a doctor and I can’t promise you will see all of these benefits. My goal is to share what I’ve seen to help you ask your doctor the right questions. I hope your results don’t vary. Be thankful for friends and family. And don’t forget to be thankful for your motivation to keep running for your health!
